Trying to capture a smile... October 14th-18th (5 weeks and 4 days - 6 weeks!)

During Nana and Bumpa's visit Connor started smiling more and more. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed in getting a smiling photo of Connor during that week, and the days that followed the visited produced similar results.

While we didn't get any good shots of Connor smiling these days we did get other great photos to share of some typical day to day activities.

October 14th

I quietly crept up to a playful Connor to capture him fully engaged with his mirror! It's great to finally move out of that first month when there really isn't much more going on than sleep to see some glimpses of his playful side.

This photo also shows off his long eyelashes. They are so long, full and curly.

Connor sleeping peacefully in his dinosaur onesie.
For now he can live in blissful ignorance that the mighty brontosaurus pictured here
isn't actually a real dinosaur...  (10/14)

All of us piled on the bed for a group photo! (10/18)
Here's a shot of Christian on the phone
taken from the window of our third floor apartment. (10/16)
Now we post a lot of happy photos of Connor on this blog, so many that you might think our wonderful baby never cries. While we do have a super calm baby, he will occasionally cry... here's some proof!
WHAAAA! (10/18)

Hilarious! Connor started crying the instant
this photo was snapped! (10/18)
On October 17th we had a nice night out. We didn't have any plans, or eat at any fancy restaurants, we simply took a walk around the lake on a warm night. The lake in the center of downtown (a 5 minute walk from where we live) in lined with stores, cafes, and shopping centers. At night, they are all lit up in an impressive display of neon.

I love seeing the neon lights reflected off the lake!

Connor's adorable crocheted jacket was a special
gift that Nana brought him on her visit.
Connor is such a sweetie when we go out. He hardly ever cries or fusses when we're out. In fact, usually he sleeps the entire time waking up only to eat "a little snack" before drifting off to sleep again.

Like I said at the beginning of this entry, we were trying all week to capture one of Connor's real smiles. The closest we got was a pretty adorable sleep grin:
Connor sleeping...
Connor's sleep grin! Look at that little tongue!! (10/16)
Since we'd hounding him all week long with the camera, Connor only had one more thing to add....
No more pictures! (10/18)

The funny picture I'll leave you all with today comes from the hospital. On a recent visit back there, Christian and I noticed this poster of a Chinese baby...
...who happened to be wearing a Che Guevara head wrap! Say What?!

  1. Love the updates! Watching Connor grow up with each new post is great. I think Connor should have a Che Guevara head scarf - how cool is that! Pictures of downtown are wonderful. Thanks much for taking the time to make these posts...I know how time consuming it is.

    1. I love the downtown here. That whole area is off limits to vehicles so it's very safe to walk around. :)
